Schwarzenberg’s history dates back to the 12th century. At that time it was an important centre of silver mining in the Ore Mountains.
In the cold season, the town is a popular starting point for winter sports activities of all kinds.
In summer, there are beautiful hiking and cycling trails to explore the region. A picturesque old town with Schwarzenberg Castle, St. George’s Church and the Old Town Hall is inviting, notleast for shopping for typical Erzgebirge wooden toys.
