What steps does the venue take to improve sustainability?
Sustainable business practices – our contribution to environmental protection!
Nowadays, business travellers, event organisers and event attendees not only have high expectations regarding facilities and service, but increasingly expect hotels to be run in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
It is a matter close to our hearts to align our actions with our guests’ wishes and requirements for ‘green stays’ – without having to compromise on enjoyment – whilst maintaining a clear conscience regarding our commitment to the environment.
We received EMAS certification as early as 2013 for the environmentally focused approach to our hotel operations and have since consistently ensured:
a reduction in our water and electricity consumption (zero CO₂ emissions since 2015)
the avoidance of packaging waste
reducing paper consumption through the digitisation of event documents, as well as using office supplies and printed materials made from sustainably sourced raw materials
the use of regional food – organic wherever possible – recognised with the ‘Schmeck den Süden’ quality mark in 2020
Regular monitoring audits consistently demonstrate the compliance of our environmental protection measures and serve as a constant incentive for our business operations to strive for even greater improvement.

The GenoHotel Karlsruhe is participating as a partner establishment in the ‘Sustainable Travel Destination ’ certification scheme from 2023 to 2026. In doing so, the hotel is contributing to the award of the “Sustainable Destination” certificate to the tourism destination of Karlsruhe, whilst ensuring that the three dimensions of environmental, economic and socio-cultural sustainability are continuously strengthened in the hotel’s day-to-day operations.
