Nestled in a beautiful clearing in the woods of Altonaer Volkspark – right in the heart of Hamburg, surrounded by greenery – lies the Heilgarten: a biodiverse woodland garden exclusively for nature- and health-related workshops, team days, retreats, small celebrations or creative getaways.
What to expect:
a rustic forest cottage (listed building) with a seminar room, kitchen, toilet and shower
a covered outdoor kitchen ( from 22 May 2026) with furniture, crockery and equipment for nature-inspired cooking events
Garden deck (from 22 May 2026 as a wooden terrace) for dance and movement, performances, etc.
Parking garage with large gates opening onto the courtyard for exhibitions and events
Edible woodland garden with wild and medicinal herbs, a fire pit and park benches
Access to the woodland for walks, nature trails or forest bathing
A peaceful retreat for teams, clubs and educational organisations

What we offer:
Half-day or full-day hire
Self-catering available (buffet, outdoor kitchen, drinks)
Easily accessible by bike and public transport, car parking available
Optional extras: nature coaching, herbal cooking, intuitive archery, forest walks, forest bathing, etc.
No loud music, no alcohol (except for a ‘toast’ during celebrations)

Sustainability
What steps does the venue take to improve sustainability?
The Healing Garden is a community-focused place of learning and gathering that actively contributes to ecological transformation: we maintain a species-rich, edible urban woodland garden that promotes biodiversity and brings nature-oriented urban green spaces to life. With a wealth of native wild and medicinal plants, we create habitats for insects, birds and other animals – through a variety of nesting sites, ranging from bird boxes and bat boxes to deadwood and stone piles. Through regular courses and group activities, we focus above all on fostering a sensory and emotional connection with nature – as the foundation for more climate-friendly behaviour in everyday life. The removal of paving from large areas of the former depot by the Altona district strengthens the microclimate and creates space for regeneration – both ecologically and socially.
