Kulturhaus Gotha

The Kulturhaus Gotha is THE venue for operas, operettas, musicals, concerts, plays, entertainment and shows in Gotha.

Originally built as a cinema and opened in 1940, the venue’s heyday as the ‘Kreiskulturhaus’ began in 1973 with a new stage house, theatre café and modernised interior. In 1990 – now owned by the City of Gotha – it was renamed the ‘Gothaer Kulturhaus’.

The existing theatre stage, complete with a revolving stage, as well as the installed lighting and sound systems, enable performances of all kinds. A unique feature is the Schuke organ built into the building.

The auditorium’s wooden panelling creates an intimate atmosphere and ensures excellent acoustics. When the Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach performs there, the venue regularly serves as a concert hall.

With a capacity of 779 seats, the Kulturhaus Gotha is an excellent venue for events across a wide range of genres. What makes the venue special is its retro 1970s flair.
