The non-profit Kultur- und Lebensraum Musegg Foundation runs one of the last small-scale farms in the heart of the city of Lucerne. From the very beginning, it has been committed to organic farming; it runs an ‘Bio Cuisine’-certified organic restaurant and a farm shop, organises cultural events, provides function rooms, offers educational programmes for children, young people and adults, and runs sustainability workshops for companies. The Kulturhof aims to work with its visitors to find new solutions and shape a sustainable present.
We live and breathe sustainability! Whether through organic farming, our farm restaurant and farm shop offering seasonal, local and certified organic produce, our cultural programme with a focus on sustainability, our wide range of educational activities, or our energy strategy. By generating our own solar power, we strive to minimise our reliance on fossil fuels as much as possible. During the farm’s renovation, we made a conscious effort to ensure that construction, operations and transport were as energy-efficient and resource-conserving as possible, thereby meeting the 2000-watt standard SIA 2040.
Since the foundation was established in 2013, numerous social and sustainable projects have already been implemented. These range from cultural events such as the summer festival, film evenings with panel discussions, and theatre performances for young and old, to the provision of public trails such as the nature trail, sensory trail and sustainability trail. The Kulturhof aims to provide a broad section of the population with access to sustainable, social and environmental issues, and is guided in this by the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
