THE WABI - SABI CASTLE
The heart of time beats within the walls of our historic castle. Every spolia, every flaking piece of plaster tells a story. Through our sensitive approach to heritage conservation, we honour this history and celebrate the beauty of imperfection.
Historic buildings often suffer from well-meaning restoration work that actually destroys the natural charm of the structure.
Inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, however, we appreciate the natural patina and the imperfections that give our castle its unique character.
For true beauty often lies in simplicity and in the acceptance of transience. On a guided tour of the castle, you can experience the fascinating history of our estate at first hand and soak up its special atmosphere.

With around 900 breeding pairs, the hoopoe is one of Germany’s rarest birds and proves that our sustainable management of the castle grounds is bearing fruit!
