What steps does the venue take to improve sustainability?
Here is an extract from our measures:
Reducing electricity consumption and CO₂ emissions:
Use of LED bulbs in all areas of the Rathauskeller – kitchen, function rooms, offices. LED bulbs and motion detectors are also installed in staff corridors and storage rooms.
The organisation is ISO 50001 certified. This certification confirms that an organisation demonstrably increases its energy efficiency, optimises energy consumption and actively reduces costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Our table linen is supplied by Rosa Toifl & Co GmbH, which is ISO 14001 certified, ensuring the highest environmental standards in its laundry operations.
Reduction in chemicals polluting waste water:
Since 2021, we have switched to cleaning products from Hollu (products certified with the Austrian Ecolabel) and have stopped using chemical drain cleaners.
Use of 100% recycled paper or eco-labelled paper for toilet roll, kitchen roll and paper towels.
Food & drink:
Drinks are predominantly purchased in reusable containers (with the exception of wine and spirits) and no drinks tins are offered.
Beer and wine are mainly sourced from the region (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland).
We source 100 per cent of our beef, chicken and pork from Austria.
We source 100 per cent of our baked goods from bakers in Vienna or Lower Austria.
The following dairy products are sourced exclusively in organic quality: fresh milk, butter, quark, natural yoghurt, sour cream and whipped cream.
Disposable products:
No single-use products are used in the banquet area.
We use only reusable tableware.
