The Wagenhallen are among the most important cultural and event venues in Stuttgart. They were built at the end of the 19th century as locomotive remises. The city of Stuttgart has owned the property since 2003 and has leased the building for cultural purposes and events to Wagenhallen Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG for cultural purposes and events. Among the creative people who conquered the former railway site in 2003 were Stefan Mellmann and Thorsten Gutbrod, today's managing directors of Wagenhallen Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG, were among them. With their cultural enterprise, they built up a professional event location within an improvised framework.
After 15 years of interim use, the Stuttgart City Council decided to extensively renovate the aging building stock and thus preserve it for the future. In October 2018, these extensive renovations were completed. The entire area has since presented itself with new charm in the following three areas: Wagenhallen Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG, the Wagenhalle e. V. art association and the "Tango Ocho" dance school.
Since then, our hall has stood for both a colourful and diverse cultural programme as well as for major political and business events.
