The new event venue on Karlsplatz.
Over the past five years, the Wien Museum has been refurbished and brought up to the latest technical standards. The new event hall offers a unique view of Karlsplatz and St Charles’s Church. Thanks to the flexible layout, events of various sizes and formats can be accommodated. The modern facilities and exclusive furnishings form the cornerstone of your event.
Just in time for the opening of its new premises, the Wien Museum has been awarded the Austrian Eco-Label both as a museum and as a venue for events.
The extensive refurbishment and the associated modernisation measures provided a welcome opportunity to subject all aspects of the museum’s operations and the building itself to rigorous scrutiny in terms of sustainability and environmental friendliness, and to plan accordingly.
In the months leading up to the opening, the Wien Museum underwent the rigorous certification process to obtain the Austrian Eco-Label. The criteria assessed included not only factors such as the use of green electricity and resource consumption, but above all energy efficiency. In this regard, the new building scores highly thanks to features such as geothermal heating and cooling (ground-source heat pumps), automatically dimming Sage glass throughout the building, a photovoltaic system on the roof, and clay plaster on the external walls. The introduction of the so-called ‘climate corridor’ is also worth mentioning here: the temperature and humidity in the permanent exhibition area remain within a range that is suitable for the exhibits – resulting in enormous energy savings compared with the rigid parameters previously in place.
Rentals outside the listed hours are possible by arrangement.
