PRATERSTRASSE – NEXT-LEVEL BAR CULTURE FOR VIENNA
A top-class multi-channel dining concept near the Danube Canal, on one of Vienna’s most beautiful streets, is set to welcome more than just the Viennese scene in 2020. Behind it all are two seasoned club legends, Heinz Tronigger and Hennes Weiss, who, with Praterstrasse, are expanding Vienna’s bar culture with a new hotspot offering an innovative all-round experience and a cosmopolitan vibe.
Vienna’s first hybrid bar.
“Praterstrasse embodies the coolness of the Second District, combined with international standards in architecture and design, an innovative sound and lighting concept, as well as exciting cuisine and service quality,” say Heinz Tronigger and Hennes Weiss, who together bring 40 years’ experience in the club, music and hospitality sectors and have set themselves the goal of creating a new sense of quality ambience in Vienna.
As operators of renowned and award-winning top venues such as the Babenberger Passage, Albertina Passage, Roxy and the Meierei in Stadtpark – which became famous beyond Austria’s borders in the 1990s – Heinz Tronniger is regarded as a pioneer of Viennese club culture and one of the trailblazers of the downbeat movement.
Globetrotter Hennes Weiss, for his part, was the founder in the 2010s and, until 2017, the operator of the legendary Pratersauna, which was voted one of Europe’s best clubs during his tenure. Since 2016, he has been organising the annually sold-out Lighthouse Festival in Croatia and South Africa and works as an internationally sought-after music manager, event and concert organiser worldwide in cities such as San Francisco, Cape Town, Tokyo and Delhi.
This expertise, built up over decades, is now being channelled into a novel hybrid bar concept that adapts from day to late night, effortlessly caters to its guests and welcomes cosmopolitans and Viennese of all generations alike.
